About the Owner
Hello there! I'm Shannon. And I own HHGS. I figured I'd tell you a little more about myself, and how I began this this little journey....
As a child I was ALWAYS outdoors, covered in dirt, playing with bugs and picking flowers. (Nature was my happy place....still is) My grandmother was Portuguese, and I'd often help her with tending to her gardens. She was incredibly gifted, and her plants were always so healthy and full of colour. She'd grow herbs for cooking, and medicinally for special teas when we were sick. She was a garden guru, and taught me how plants can positively impact our lives physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. For this I am forever grateful. And also a big part of my passion for the plant world and how I've built my life around it:) My goal is to teach and inspire others of the many benefits of having beautiful and natural outdoor spaces to enjoy.
I now have 35 years of gardening experience, 10+ certifications from Landscape Ontario, and am heading into my fourth year as a business owner doing what I love. I am particularly interested in native plants. pollinator gardens, and in preserving and protecting natural ecosystems. You can still find me most days outdoors covered in dirt and wearing a smile. Do what you love folks. Life is far too short to do anything else.
-Shannon
